St.Gallen International Breast Cancer Award 2025
The Foundation Council of “St.Gallen Oncology Conferences“ (SONK) honours Professor Armando E. Giuliano for his extraordinary contribution in research and practice development in the treatment of individuals with breast cancer with the “St.Gallen International Breast Cancer Award 2025“, which will be presented during the Opening Ceremony of the conference on Wednesday, March 12, 2025.
To honour the occasion we are delighted that Professor Giuliano will hold the inaugural Hansjoerg Senn Memorial Lecture on the topic of “My Personal Experience: Changing Surgery for Breast Cancer”.

Armando Giuliano is a surgical oncologist and a pioneer in clinical breast cancer research. His name is strongly associated with the introduction of the sentinel node biopsy procedure introduced in the field of his original specialization, endocrine surgery. He led the pivotal study, known to all senologists as Z0011, introducing the procedure in the standard care of early breast cancer. He published more than 300 articles and – until today – continues his research, critically reviewing the role of the procedure in the light of the evolving technology and recent developments in treatment of early breast cancer. Dr. Giuliano serves presently as Director Surgical Oncology of the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center Los Angeles, USA. Millions of patients benefitted of his pioneering work. With the St.Gallen Breast Cancer Award 2025, the Foundation St.Gallen Oncology Conferences (SONK) honours Armando Giuliano for his extraordinary contributions to breast cancer care.
